What are Internal and External Reflection?

There is an interesting distinction between internal reflection, or thinking about one's thinking*, and external reflection, which refers to the sharing of one's intrapersonal thoughts, one's inner voice or self-statements, with other professionals. Accordingly, external reflection occurs when the mentor or the mentee, shares his or her thinking with the other person.

On the next blog post  we will discuss Think-Alouds.

*Another term for internal reflection is metacognition.
